Last Days of Humanity - Hymns of Indigestible Suppuration (12" Vinyl Gatefold)
Formed back in 1989, LAST DAYS OF HUMANITY were a longtime staple in the deepest bowels of the international goregrind scene. But it was the band's second album, Hymns of Indigestible Suppuration, originally released in 2000 on CD format only, where LAST DAYS OF HUMANITY truly cemented their legendry. Adorned with an utterly disgusting cover art that upped the ante on the trend of already-disgusting true-crime covers in goregrind, it was the slashing ‘n’ sluicing filth itself that truly put this album over the top. All the rudiments of classic goregrind were in place – and with an especial emphasis on the GRIND, ignorant and incessant in its intensity – with the vocals plumbing almost absurdist depths of the sonic sewer, and songwriting that seemingly bordered on the chaotic but retained a twisted sense of catchiness, all delivered with gutsfucking aplomb. Simply put, Hymns of Indigestible Suppuration was goregrind for goregrind fiends, played by goregrind fiends: no more, but certainly no less!
